Last updated on October 5, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains what personal data Talkou collects and how we use it. It applies whenever you use our Services, described below.
Introduction
Our registered users (“Members”) use Talkou to create channels, exchange messages with customers and suppliers, discuss products and services, run advertisements, and create lead forms.
1.1. Services Covered
This Privacy Policy applies to Talkou.com, the Talkou mobile app, and related services (the “Services”). Registered users of the Services are “Members”, and unregistered users are “Visitors”.
1.2. Data Controller
Talkou is the controller of the personal data you provide to us, that we collect, or that we process in connection with the Services.
Whether you are a Visitor or a Member, the collection, use, and sharing of your personal data is governed by this Privacy Policy and the other documents it references, as updated from time to time.
1.3. Changes to This Policy
Talkou (“we” or “us”) may update this Privacy Policy. If we make material changes, we will notify you through the Services or by other means before the changes take effect, so that you have a chance to review them. If you do not agree to a change, you can close your account.
If you keep using the Services after we publish or send notice of changes to this Privacy Policy, the collection, use, and sharing of your personal data is governed by the updated policy from its effective date.
Data We Collect
2.1. Registration and Sign-In
To create an account, you provide data such as your name, your email address or mobile number, and a password. We use this data to manage your account, for example to sign you in and to help you recover your password.
2.2. Account Information
You choose what information to include in your account. We do not require Members to include sensitive data, such as race, ethnicity, political opinions, religious or philosophical beliefs, trade union membership, physical or mental health, sexual orientation, or criminal record, in their Talkou account. If you choose to add any such data, it is visible to others in the same way as the rest of your account information.
2.3. Posting and Uploading
We collect personal data when you provide, post, or upload it to the Services, such as when you fill out a form (for example, with demographic data), respond to a survey, or share files and media in a conversation.
You do not have to post or upload personal data, but if you don’t, it may limit your ability to connect and communicate with others through the Services.
2.4. Integrated Sign-In Services
If you register through, or otherwise give us access to, a third-party social network or sign-in service (an “Integrated Service”), such as Facebook, Google, or Apple, Talkou may also collect personal data that is already associated with your account on that Integrated Service. We treat this data as personal data and use it only as described in this Privacy Policy.
2.5. Service Use
We log usage data when you visit or otherwise use the Services, including our sites, apps, and platform technology, for example when you view or click on content or ads (on or off our sites and apps), perform a search, install or update one of our mobile apps, send a message, or run an advertisement. We use sign-in data, cookies, device information, and internet protocol (“IP”) addresses to identify you and log your use.
2.6. Cookies and Similar Technologies
As described in our Cookie Policy, we use cookies and similar technologies to collect data, such as device IDs, that helps us recognize you and your devices across the different services and devices you use to access the Services. We also allow some others to use cookies, as described in our Cookie Policy. Where the law allows, we may also collect, or rely on others to collect, information about your device when you are not using the Services, such as your advertising ID, IP address, operating system, and browser information, so that we can show Members relevant ads and better understand how well those ads perform.
2.7. Your Device and Location
When you visit or leave the Services, including through some plugins or through our cookies and similar technologies on other sites, we receive the URL of the site you came from and the one you go to, and the time of your visit. We also receive information about your network and device, such as your IP address, proxy server, operating system, web browser and add-ons, device identifier and features, cookie IDs, and internet service provider.
If you use the Services on a mobile device, the device sends us data about your location based on your phone settings. We will ask you to opt in before we use GPS or similar features to find your precise location.
2.8. Other
Our Services change over time, and new features may require us to collect new information. If we start collecting materially different personal data, or materially change how we collect, use, or share your data, we will notify you and may update this Privacy Policy.
How We Use Your Data
How we use your personal data depends on which Services you use, how you use them, and the choices you make in your settings. We use the data we have about you to provide and personalize the Services, including with the help of automated systems and the inferences we make, so that the Services, including ads, are more relevant and useful to you and others.
3.1. Communications
We contact you by email, by phone, through notices on our websites and apps, through messages in your Talkou inbox, and in other ways through the Services, including text messages and push notifications. These messages cover the availability of the Services, security, and other service-related matters. We also send messages about how to use the Services, product updates, reminders, and promotional messages from us and our partners.
You can change your communication preferences at any time, but you cannot opt out of service messages from us, such as security and legal notices.
We also enable communication between you and others through the Services, such as invitations.
3.2. Customer Support
We use data, which can include your communications, to investigate, respond to, and resolve complaints and problems with the Services, such as bugs.
3.3. Insights That Do Not Identify You
We use your data to produce and share insights that do not identify you. For example, we may use your data, including inferences drawn from it such as your location or the keywords you are interested in, to produce statistics about our Members, to count how often ads are shown or clicked, or to publish visitor demographics.
3.4. Security and Investigations
We use your data, including your communications, for security purposes and to prevent or investigate possible fraud, other breaches of our User Agreement, and attempts to harm our Members, Visitors, or others.
3.5. Account Deactivation and Deletion
When you deactivate your account, it is placed in a deactivated state. The account and its data are permanently deleted from the Talkou database within 15 days. You can restore your account during this period by signing in again.
3.6. Purchases and Refunds
When you request a refund for a purchase made through the App Store, Apple may ask us how you used what you bought. With your consent, we share the purchase and usage information Apple needs to decide the refund, such as whether the credits were used, how much, and when.
